Whitewood is an accredited Paulownia Plantation under the Timber Plantation (Harvest Guarantee) Act 1995. We are located in the Northern Rivers District of NSW near the Queensland border at the base of Mount Warning. We planted approximately 4000 trees in 1998. They were thinned in 2006 and we milled our first timber for sale in 2007. Most of this timber is 25mm thick and in widths up to 125mm
In 2008 we entered into an agreement with another grower that enables us to supply boards up to 250 mm by 50 mm. The thicker planks have been kiln dried to 11% moisture content and treated to remove the tannin ( sap) normally found in Paulownia.
Paulownia is not a structural grade timber and for this reason has its limitations. We ask all customers what the timber will be used for and if we do not feel it is suitable we will not sell it.
We can send timber to your door anywhere in Australia using IPEC. We only charge the actual costs and have no mark on freight. Unfortunately IPEC limit the length of the ‘parcels’ to 3.5 metres. We include a P & H charges which varies with the type of timber and the size of the order. As a general rule it is $11.00 for rough saw timber and $16.50 for DAR for bundles up to 25 kg. This charge includes taking the timber into Murwillumbah for pickup by IPEC as they charge too much to come to our place and only pick up twice a week.
